Diversion in Section 2 walking route at Merkins forest
25 Aug 2020
Section 2: Balloch to Strathblane
Updated 21/09/20
The fallen tree has now been cleared and the diversion removed.
Original story:
A 1.5km section of the John Muir Way walking route between Balloch and Strathblane, at Merkins forest (north of Burncrooks reservoir), is currently closed due to a fallen tree. A local diversion is in place using forest tracks.
Forestry and Land Scotland are managing the diversion and plan to clear the tree by mid-September. For now, please see the diversion map and follow signage on the ground.
We’ll update here when the main John Muir Way path re-opens.
