Short diversion at Musselburgh Ash Lagoons

Section 8: Edinburgh to Prestonpans

Due to ongoing capping and restoration works at Musselburgh Ash Lagoons (Levenhall Links) there will be a short diversion of the John Muir Way in order to avoid construction traffic and key work areas. The section of footpath between Morrisons Haven car park and Levenhall Links car park will be diverted to follow the B1348 Ravensheugh Road for approximately 500 metres. There is a shared foot/cycle path alongside this section of road. Diversion signage is in place, managed by Scottish Power. Please see the map below for details.

Works are expected to last 12-18 months and will result in the creation of additional space for wildlife and new paths at Levenhall Links. On completion of the restoration works, the John Muir Way route will follow the sea front on this section, all the way to Prestonpans.
