Situated approximately 23 miles from both Glasgow and Edinburgh, The Falkirk Wheel is easily accessible in the heart of Scotland.

By Car
For Sat Nav enter FK1 4RS

From Edinburgh – take the M9 west for Stirling. Exit at Junction 8 of the motorway, and follow the brown and white tourist signage for The Falkirk Wheel.
From Glasgow – from the M80, then M876 and exit M876 at Junction 1. Follow signs for Falkirk and then the brown and white tourist signage for The Falkirk Wheel.
From the North – Follow the M9 south and take junction 9 (Stirling Services). At the large roundabout, take the fourth exit for The Falkirk Wheel and Denny (A872). Continue to follow the brown and white tourist signs.
By public transport
There are regular services from Glasgow, Edinburgh Perth and Stirling to Falkirk stations. Visit www.scotrail.com for timetables and tickets.

The Falkirk Wheel is then just a short taxi ride from Falkirk Grahamston, Camelon or Falkirk High Station. You will find taxi ranks at the train stations, or visit www.traintaxi.co.uk for details of taxis available for hire at these locations.

The number 6 bus runs between The Falkirk Wheel and Falkirk town centre. For more information and timetables please visit www.firstscotlandeast.com

By foot or bike
The Falkirk Wheel can be accessed from the Forth & Clyde and Union Canal towpaths. It is approximately a 2.5mile walk from either Falkirk Grahamston or Falkirk High Stations.

Parking
The main car park is a 5 – 10 minute walk along the side of the canal with a slight incline. There is a charge of £3.50 per day for parking. This payment helps to maintain The Falkirk Wheel and Scotland’s Canals.

Blue Badge Holders
Customers with walking difficulties or disabilities please follow the signs for ‘The Falkirk Wheel & Services’ and the yellow AA signs for The Falkirk Wheel starting on the outskirts of Camelon. There are plenty of car park spaces for Blue Badge holders, located right outside the entrance to the Visitor centre (20-30M distance). The ground here is paved and has little or no incline.

Motorhomes
Some overnight parking is available for a fee of £15 per night, with a £20 key deposit. Please arrange parking and collect keys from our Visitor Centre during opening hours.

 

BOOK A BOAT TRIP

Original Tour
Enjoy the full experience of The Falkirk Wheel during this 60 minute journey, as you sail through the sky to join the Union Canal 35m above. After smoothly moving along the aqueduct and through the Roughcastle tunnel to the beginning of the Union Canal, you will then descend to the start point, returning you to our Visitor Centre.

Revolution Tour
Take a spin on the world’s only rotating boat lift with this 35 minute journey around The Falkirk Wheel. Be prepared for stunning views across the vast Falkirk countryside as you reach the top point of The Wheel during your 360 degrees trip, before riding back down to the basin and Visitor Centre below.
