The Tweedie shop sits on Helensburgh’s seafront, just opposite the starting point for the John Muir Way and boasts stunning views of the Gare Loch. We warmly welcome all walkers, cyclists and even doggies to come in and browse the shop and pick up your John Muir Way passport.
Tweedie presents a collection of unique tweed & leather gifts and accessories, created by a small group of design-led British brands, hand-picked for the Tweedie shop. We feature the most comprehensive offering from the award-winning Leather Guild Design Studio, based in Helensburgh, Scotland.
Leather Guild design their tweeds in-house, right down to choosing the yarn colours and set size, so the tweeds are exclusive and will never be found from any other brand. Leather Guild tweed is woven at the Islay Woollen Mill, located on the Inner Hebridean Island of Islay (eye la), and is as exclusive as it is luxurious and durable.
The mill on Islay have been weaving wool tweed continuously since 1820 and have a reputation for producing a tough, durable and tightly woven fabric, which is ideally suited to making bags and accessories. In addition to the heritage and tradition of weaving on Islay, Leather Guild employ modern technology to give their products a tangible benefit over Harris tweed products. Du Pont Teflon coating is applied to the tweed at the finishing stage which offers enhanced water and stain repellence. This coating and the tight strong weave make Leather Guild products strong and durable, as well as design, led and practical.
