Plan Your TripThe Dolphin Inn

Whether you have just completed the 134 mile John Muir Way or a few of the later stages you will receive a warm welcome at the Dolphin Inn, a quirky new hostel in the historic centre of Dunbar.

This building was a hotel in John Muir's day and it is likely he will have passed by as he walked to and from his school.  Recently rennovated, this quirky retro vintage styled hostel offers a range of rooms to suit any guest.  There are 11 rooms including double ensuites and a dorm / family room.

The hostel has a laundry / drying facility, secure bike and board (surf, kiteboard and wakeboard) storage as well as outdoor washing facilities to clean mud, sand and sea water off gear (and feet).  There is also a sunny courtyard with seating to relax in after an active day.  Other facilities include a lounge, dining area and small self catering kitchen although with the High Street minutes away there are many dining and take away options.

Just a short walk from the railway station and bus stops the hostel is in a great location for homeward travel.  East beach is within five minutes and Dunbar's expansive Belhaven Beach is approx 25 minutes walk or a short cycle on one of our bikes for loan.

A bed in the bunk room is £20 per night (may not be available due to Covid restrictions), Twin / Double rooms from £60 (Single occupancy £45).

Opening Hours

The hostel is open all year with check in from 4pm and checkout by 10am.  We do have limited bag storage should you wish to explore Dunbar outwith these times.
